Options Dialog Box: Editor Options:Comparison Options:Colors

To set options for the editor:

  1. Choose Options > Options.
    The Options dialog box appears.
  2. In the Options box, click Editor.
  3. To set the tab size for the editor, enter a number in the Tab size field.
  4. Use the check boxes to other editor options using the information below:

    Select ... To ...
    Kill blanks on line end Remove trailing spaces when a file is loaded.
    Virtual spaces in editor Use the "virtual spaces" feature that allows you to move the cursor after the line end.
    Save spaces, no tabs Replace tab characters with spaces when file is saved.
    Pad with spaces Use spaces to pad line when new character is inserted after the last one. Without this option padding is done with tabs/spaces combination.
    Cycled search Perform continuous searches in a files. When you perform a search, the search engine will continue cycling through a file to find occurences of the search term. The status bar informs you when the end of file was passed during a search.
    Mark out current line Mark current line with rectangular frame to simplify visual identification.
    Scroll left pane horizontally... Mouse wheel in left pane will scroll both files horizontally.
    Edit Mode state You can specify Edit Mode state after start:
    - Always start in Edit Mode;
    - Always start in Read Only Mode;
    - Save Edit Mode state: restore Edit Mode as it was during your last Compare It! usage.
    Do not edit read-only files You will not be able to edit file with read-only attribute.
    Show change marks Display small arrow on right edge of line, if there are some inline changes beyond visible width. Clicking on this mark will bring you to next change.
    Support Drag and Drop Enable drag'n'drop editing.
    Use Selection Margin Toggle Selection Margin - left-most free space on each pane, used for quick text selection with mouse.
  5. Under Font, click the font button (which shows the current font in use) to define the default font for the editor.
  6. Fixed Font option lets you choose alternative font.

To set alternative font for printing:


In order to print more on one page, or to make printout more readable, you can choose another font for printing. Select File > Print Options menu item, page Font.

Compare It! allows you to set bold/italic/striked font attributes for in-line changes highlighting, as well as for other special file sections. Check Colors options page for these settings.
