Adding Shortcuts to External Applications Advanced functions

You can use the Customize command on the Tools menu to add a shortcut to one or more external applications.

To add a shortcut to another application:

  1. Choose Tools > Customize.
    The Customize it! dialog box appears.
  2. In the Tools box, click  Add Tool.
  3. In the Name field, type the name of the application, as you want to see it in the Tools menu.
  4. In the Command field, use the browse button to select the executable for the application.
  5. Use the Parameters field and selection button to define startup parameters for the application.
  6. Click the Close button.
    The shortcut to the application now appears as a menu item in the Tools menu.

To remove a shortcut to another application:

  1. Choose Tools > Customize.
    The Customize it! dialog box appears.
  2. In the Tools box, select the shortcut you want to remove and click  Remove Tool.
  3. At the confirmation dialog box, click the Yes button.
  4. Click the Close button.
    The shortcut is removed from the Tools menu.

How to open compared file with associated application


There is one preset tool, available when some files are opened. By invoking Tools > Open command you can start associated with current file application (like MS Word for .doc files).
