System Scheduler (free version) works on all versions of Windows from 2000 through to Windows 7 (earlier versions also work on Windows 9x).
System Scheduler Professional contains many enhanced features that interact very closely with the operating system in order to function. All of the Professional features work on Windows XP / Server 2003 and similar versions of Windows. However, from Windows Vista Microsoft has made some substantial changes to the underlying operating system that means some features of System Scheduler Professional will no longer work, or will work differently.
These are differences to be aware of for Windows Vista and Windows 7:
Automatic Logon and Unlock System Scheduler sends keypresses to the Logon/Unock dialogue in order to automate these features. Vista/7 security model prevents applications interacting with these parts of the operating system, so automatic logon and unlock no longer work. Note: We've added the facility to turn on MS Windows own automatic logon function in System Scheduler Preferences, this works on all versions of Windows including Vista and 7.
Running events On Shutdown / Logoff For Windows XP, System Scheduler will stop the Shutdown/Logoff, run the Events, then continue Shutdown/Logoff. From Vista/7 Microsoft have changed the operating system so that applications can no longer stop the Shutdown/Logoff once it has started, therefore events scheduled to run On Shutdown / Logoff will no longer run. |
