(System Scheduler Professional Only)

Process Watcher is similar to the Window Watcher event, it watches for running Processes by process name rather than window caption.

Title

This is the title for the event as listed in the 'View All Events' page. All Events

Process Name

Process names usually takes the form of the filename that initiated the process. In this field you can enter either the full path to the filename or just the name of the file itself. If possible it is best to click the lookup button and choose the process from the list if it is already running.

Criteria

Either 'Process is running ' or 'Process is not running'. System Scheduler will check for the existence of the process as often as it is scheduled to run.

'Process is not responding (hung)': System Scheduler will send a message to the process and if it does not respond will assume it has hung and can take action.

Action

Based on the matching criteria. System Scheduler can either Terminate the Process (if it is running) or run another System Scheduler Event. If you want another event to be run you should set this up first so you can select it from the dropt down list.

Run Event

When the criteria is matched (i.e. the process is or is not running), you can specify another Event that is to be run. If you have chosen 'Terminate Process' in the Action field you can still run another event after the process has been terminated through this Run Event field.

Saving

Either click the Exit button and you will be prompted to save the reminder, or click the Action menu and Save.

Scheduling

Process Watcher can be scheduled to check for a process once, every minute, hour, day, month or year. See Scheduling Options for more information.
